In the beginning when someone needs help, the needs are sometimes met with the assistance of an Aide. While you might be eligible to get a few hours from Medicare when discharged from a hospital or rehab, this is not a long term solution.

In a community there are multiple Aides. If one doesn’t show up there are usually several who can be called in. However, because there are many Aides on the staff, there is always some type of supervision. Some folks have Aides that are more of a companion because the person doesn’t have a need for a higher level of care. They may have an Aide just because they’re lonely. In the home care industry there are companions and there are Aides and sometimes someone might even hire a nurse as the care taker for a certain amount of houses. Yikes, lots to think about.
